Sweet Summertime

Sorry for the lack of posts, this month has been incredibly busy! Between planning for Andrew's first Father's Day, all of Layla's appointments, my birthday, and our anniversary, I haven't had a single second of free time! This month, we received word from Layla's doctor that her ROP is completely gone! We could not be more ecstatic! My little baby is such a fighter.

For Father's Day, we went with Andrew's parents to church, since a lot of his parents friends hadn't met Layla yet. I ordered her a special onesie to wear and made her a matching tutu to go with it.

How could you not want to just eat her up?! That smile just kills me!

Since we're taking a family vacation to Mackinac Island next week, I got Andrew his beloved iOttie Car Mount for his iPhone 5. We both use ours for GPS, music, movies, etc., so I figured it was perfect timing for a long road trip. He loves it and it works great! As for our anniversary, we've decided to celebrate when we get to Mackinac, so we haven't exchanged gifts yet. (It's totally something from my Father's Day Giftspiration post! haha) Since I have a little extra shopping time, I might have to go out and get something else, too! My birthday was awesome and we spent time doing what we love: eating, drinking, and watching movies. Who could ask for a better birthday?!

Anyways, even though we're only a week into summer, I've been in a summertime mindset since Memorial Day. This is how I work. Summer is way too short in Michigan, so you gotta fake it till you make it. I've been doing a ton of shopping in preparation for warm weather, beach days, and vacation, and I've found myself buying more accessories than anything else. I can't help it - as soon as I see a flash of pastel, glitter, or anything nautical, I must have it. I've bought some really great stuff over the past few weeks, so it's inspired me to make a summer style collage of sorts...
one. two. three. four. five.
six. seven. eight. nine. ten.
eleven. twelve. thirteen.

Um, so, Hi. My name is Renee and I'm totally addicted to mint green and glitter. haha You'll have to excuse the umbrella, Michigan has been plagued with storms and flooding for weeks, so...I thought these were fitting. The colors at least make them feel summery!

I'll be posting about packing for vacation and beach bag necessities within the next few days, so keep an eye out! Leave me some comments and let me know what your favorite summertime necessities are!

Father's Day Gift-spiration!

Being that this is Andrew's first Father's Day, I've been scouring the internet for ideas to make it extra special. (Let's be honest, he probably just wants a cold beer and some pizza!) I still don't have anything set in stone, but I've found some amazing gift ideas along the way!

1. Dollar Shave Club: Such a genius idea, I'm pissed I didn't think of it first! Basically, you can pay monthly to have new razors sent to you. There's a few different razors to choose from, but whichever one you choose, it's waaaay cheaper than the stuff you buy in the stores. And they're just as good, if not better. Plus, you can cancel/upgrade/downgrade whenever you want. Perfect!
2. St. Pierre Professional Horseshoe Set: Perfect for any dad! Hell, I want this!
3. Slant Shack Jerky: Build your own bag of grass-fed beef jerky? Hell yes! Tons of flavors, including gluten-free options!
4. Around the World Beer Bucket: I love the idea of this. However, it's extremely over-priced. My suggestion is to buy the beer yourself, since most is available here anyways. That way, you'll save money, be able to make a basket for hubs, your dad, your grandpa, your uncle, whoever else, and be able to get totally smashed yourself. Win, win, win.
5. Mota Smartphone Battery Stick: If your significant other is anything like mine, (or anything like ME for that matter) then a lot of their time is spent with their face in their phone. This actually carries a charge in it, so you can plug it into your phone and charge it on-the-go!
6. Tucker Blair Needlepoint Belts: Okay, all of the designs were amazing! These are pretty expensive, but almost worth the splurge just because they're so awesome. I wonder how long it would take to make one...you know me and my lofty DIY ideas. haha
7. Sephora Cologne Sampler: I received the women's version for Christmas, and I gotta tell you how much I love it! Not only do you get tons of samples that are almost all amazing, but you also get a gift card to pick up a free full-sized bottle of the one you liked best - FOR FREE! How awesome is that?!
8. Bespoke Post Refresh Box: This is such an awesome site to get gifts for men. If you've ever heard of Glossybox, it's like that...but for men. You can sign up for just one month, and pick which box (they have tons of themes) you'd like. With summer and vacations upon us, this one definitely seemed most fitting!

So, as I've said, I have a few ideas I'm tossing around and a few things I've purchased (I hope Andrew isn't reading this!), but being that this is his FIRST Father's Day, I wanted to make it extra-special. If you have any ideas, leave them in a comment below! I'd love to hear how you plan on spending your Father's Day!
